Ramon Chavez
Founder and CEO of Chaves Knives, Ramon is the creative force behind iconic designs like the Redencion, Liberation, Sangre, Scapegoat, C.H.U.B., and RCK Series. His work is recognized for its iconic profiles, rugged durability, and ergonomic feel. From customs to the new Blue Label, models can be accessed by anyone on their knife journey.
Now based in Utah, select new designs are being produced in-house. He also continues to partner with Reate, whose commitment to premium materials and exacting craftsmanship ensures exceptional fit and finish. The result is a smooth, reliable action with solid lockup that has become the industry standard.

Jake McCoy
Jake McCoy is a knifemaker based in Eagle Mountain, Utah, with five years of experience in fixed blades and three in folders. His journey began at just 12 years old after discovering Blade Magazine, where an article featuring Ramon Chaves’ “Repercussion” sparked a connection that would shape his path.
Over the years, Jake built strong relationships within the knife community, gaining early opportunities to work alongside Ramon at Blade Show Atlanta and the USN Knife Show. At 17, he began apprenticing at Microtech Knives, where he developed a wide range of skills, from grinding and finishing to anodizing and blade processing, under industry veterans.
After five years at Microtech, Jake launched McCoy Bladeworks, starting with fixed blades before expanding into folders. He later dedicated a year to learning folding knife construction from Edison Barajas, leading to his first folder, the “Disciple.”
Now, with nearly 200 handmade folders to his name, Jake continues to refine his craft. He makes knives full-time while raising his family with his wife, Teagan, and their two children. Grounded in faith and supported by a close-knit community, Jake’s work reflects both his dedication and his journey. We’re excited to introduce Jake’s Designs: The Disciple and Omega into the Chaves lineup!

Sam Tran
Sam Tran is a mechanical engineer by trade with a deep passion for both photography and knives, two interests that ultimately led him to become a full-time content creator in the knife and EDC space.
After handling, collecting, and working with hundreds of knives over the years, Sam has developed a distinct and recognizable design perspective, clearly reflected in his own work.
Driven by equal parts curiosity, precision, ADHD, OCD, and a steady flow of coffee, Sam holds himself to exceptionally high standards, especially when it comes to his designs, including his first model with us, The Arison.

Brad Blount
Brad Blount is a well-known knifemaker whose work has earned a strong following for its bold design language and hard-use focus. Emerging from the mid-tech and custom knife scene, Blount built his reputation on creating knives that prioritize performance, durability, and straightforward functionality.
His designs are instantly recognizable, featuring aggressive lines, solid construction, and ergonomics built for real-world use. Rather than chasing trends, Blount has remained consistent in his approach, focusing on knives that are meant to be carried, used, and relied on.
Over the years, his work has influenced a wide range of production and custom pieces, with collaborations helping bring his signature style to a broader audience. The result is a lineup that reflects both his roots in hard-use design and his lasting impact on the modern knife community. We're excited to add the Phase and Arrestor to the Chaves lineup!
